Dr. H. James Harrington, Chairman of the Board
During the last 15 years Dr. Harrington has become the most prolific writer of all the American quality gurus. Dr. Harrington started with IBM as an apprentice toolmaker at age 18 and rose to the level of Senior Engineer and Project Manager in Quality Assurance at IBM Corporation. During his 40 years with IBM, he gained a wealth of practical management experience in manufacturing, test engineering, reliability engineering, and quality assurance. As one of IBM’s Quality Managers for more than 30 years, he helped develop IBM’s quality systems used in the 1960s through 1985. He was President of Harrington, Hurd and Rieker, a well-known performance improvement consulting firm until Ernst & Young bought the organization. Dr. Harrington served as the International Quality Advisor for Ernst & Young and Chairman of the Board of Emergence Technology Ltd., a high tech software manufacturer and developer. He also serves on the Board of Directors of a number of national and international companies. Dr. Harrington is past Chairman and past President of the prestigious International Academy for Quality and of the American Society for Quality control. He is an “A” level member of ISO’s T.C. 176 that wrote the ISO 9000 Quality System standards and T.C. 207 that wrote the ISO 14000 environmental standards. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the 14000 Environmental Management Foundation.

Dr. Lomax has over 27 years of experience in helping organizations to improve. Ken brings a wealth of business experience to thePerformance Improvement Network, LLC, having worked with Fortune 100/500 companies and having helped organizations save millions of dollars in their improvement efforts. Prior to coming to PIN, Lomax founded The LOMAX Consulting Group. Prior to that he was a consultant with Ernst & Young, LLP, and Harrington, Hurd and Rieker. Lomax has a B.S. Degree in Engineering and holds an MBA Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Improvement. He is an author and frequent lecturer. His new book, published by McGraw-Hill, Inc., is co-authored with Dr. H. James Harrington and is entitled Performance Improvement Methods: Fighting the War on Waste.
